Want to know what the cherry on top is? I had applied for a job in September and I just recently heard back.  Genetic Alliance offered me a job for next semester… and I won’t be able to take it. I guess that;s life.  

+ So here’s the dealio

Let this be a caveat, the rest of this post will be me bitching and whining about school. You all know where I go so for that reason I’m not going to post my school’s name b/c I really don’t want anything getting back to me. 

So here’s the deal, basically financial aid screwed me over this year and didn’t give me much aid as they did last year. Nice one… which by the way has tuition of about $45,000/year. Ridiculous? I think yes. Anyways so basically with financial aid and my scholarship my parents were paying about 20,000 year. Shall we break down the financial costs? 

Cost of Tuition - 45,000
Fin. Aid + Scholarship - 25,000 
Parent’s Pay - 20,000 

OH BUT WAIT, I forgot housing isn’t included in the tuition costs so let’s say I live in average housing unit. I’d like to emphasize that my school’s housing is ridiculously nice…and we pay for it so average housing  is maybe like 11,000 per year. So last year alone my parents were paying around 31,000 for me to attend a college all the way across the country. Problematic?? OF COURSE! Now considering the fact that I didn’t get as much aid this year I’m put in the posistion where I don’t want to go back. Can you blame me though? Especially when one of the members of financial aid that, I had discussed my issues with told me “Enough is enough.  This is up to you.  It is not up to your mother.  This is your student account.” So much for that “taking all possible measures to make your attendance to this school possible” (Excerpt taken from my school’s financial catalog)  

Anyways this is nobody’s problem to fix but mine, and really I just needed a quick rant. At this point I’m looking to transfer to SJSU, because I’m really tired of dealing with elitist, self entitled bullshit figure out how to pay for 30,000+ on your own nonsense. All I really want to do is graduate, be financially stable, and go off and do my own thing in the world. 

This pretty much sums up my winter break. Fucking college.

Thug lyfe and IDGAF sounds cool to say when you don’t wanna do your homework, go to work, and take responsibility for your actions, but when it comes down to it, “thug lyfing it” does not sound as cool as, “I am competent, responsible, accountable, and hard-working.” Live and learn.
